Lawrenceville United Summer Celebration in full swing!

Lawrenceville United Summer Celebration is in full swing!

Our summer camp is now in week 4. We've been having a blast! So far, our campers have: learned some rugby basics, kayaked and dragonboated on the Allegheny River, made pottery with Kiln N Time, learned how to repair bicycles with Free Ride, done fun activities with Girl Scouts, participated in theater and visual arts activities with MGR Foundation's MURALS, spent several days at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Lawrenceville branch, had field trips to Highland Park Pool and Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History, made all kinds of art projects (some with help from the Roving Art Cart!), learned conflict resolution strategies, stayed cool with WATERFALL, and much, much more!

We still have much more great programming to come for the rest of the summer. Here is the schedule for the rest of week 4:
Tuesday 7/12 - Girl Scouts come to camp, 11-12:30 and 1:30-2:30; Free Ride 1:30-3
Wednesday 7/13 - Student Conservation Association comes to camp and leads programming for our 4-8 year olds, 10:30-12:30 and 1:30-2:30; Free Ride 1:30-3.
Thursday 7/14 - Performance and talk from Tanah, CMU's South Asian dance troupe, at 11 AM; field trip to Highland Park Pool at 12:15 PM -- please wear summer camp t-shirt, bring towel and swimsuit! We will return to camp from the pool in time for snack at 3:30.
Friday 7/15 - Field trip to Romp N Roll at 10:45 AM. Leave from Romp N Roll to return to camp at 1:30. Please wear summer camp t-shirts to camp on Friday as well.

With record numbers of our campers in our first 3 weeks, camp attendance has declined this week with the beginning of Summer Dreamers, PPS's summer program. We are happy to report that registration is open once again! Forms can be found at www.lunited.org.
